What is Learn to Ride for Free?

Learn to Ride for Free is a unique opportunity for girls and boys ages 6 to 11 to experience horseback riding for the first time and learn the basic skills in a fun, safe environment. Through Learn to Ride for Free, kids will be given a free horseback riding lesson from expert instructors, and learn the fundamentals of horse care.

FAQ Section

Do we need our own equipment to participate?

No, barns will supply everything from helmets to horses! All your child needs is to wear barn appropriate attire, including closed-toed shoes or boots, long pants and a t-shirt.

What if my child doesn’t have previous riding experience?

That’s great! We love to introduce new riders to the barn! Your child will be riding with top-notch instructors who will help first-time riders have a fun, safe experience in the saddle!

What if there are no participating barns near me?

If there isn’t a barn near you participating in Learn to Ride for Free, you can still find riding lessons using the ASHBA Stable Search. If you’d like to request a program in your area, please email learntoride@saddlebred.com.
